Each bottle comes from a single barrel selected at peak maturity and hand bottled one barrel at a time at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The barrels age in the distillery’s metal clad Warehouse H, which speeds maturation. Bottled at a gentle 80 proof and made only for international markets, Special Reserve is the most approachable bottling in the Blanton’s family and is rarely found on US shelves.

Specs

Distillery: Buffalo Trace Distillery, Frankfort, Kentucky

Aging: Single barrel, matured in Warehouse H

Age: No age statement, generally said to be around 6 years

Proof: 80 (40% ABV)

Size: 700ml, export bottle

Tasting Notes

Nose: Slightly floral, with cedar, raisin, and soft vanilla

Palate: Light and airy, with vanilla and toffee around subtle dried fruit and white pepper

Finish: Short and clean, with citrus, vanilla, and a touch of rye spice

The brand is named for Colonel Albert B.
