Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship wine of the Wagner family, founded in 1972 by Chuck Wagner and his parents Charlie and Lorna Belle Wagner in Rutherford, Napa Valley. Comprised entirely of the finest barrels selected each vintage from a mix of valley-floor and benchland sites stretching from Rutherford to Calistoga, this bottling is only produced in years the winemaking team considers exceptional enough to earn the Special Selection designation, aged in French oak to achieve its signature velvety structure.
Bottled at approximately 15.7% ABV, the wine opens with saturated aromas of blackberry compote, cassis, dark cherry, mocha, and baking cocoa, layered with vanilla bean, cedar, and sweet tobacco. The palate is plush and mouth-coating, delivering ripe black fruit, espresso, and chocolate-covered blueberries carried by Caymus's hallmark fine-grained, velvety tannins, finishing long, dense, and luxurious with dark chocolate, black licorice, and warm spice.
Caymus is the only wine label in history to earn Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year distinction twice, in 1984 and 1990, and Special Selection represents the pinnacle of the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon program, making it a landmark bottle for serious Napa Valley collectors.
