About This Bottle
Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year Old Lot B carries forward the wheated bourbon recipe first crafted by Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle just prior to Prohibition, produced today at Buffalo Trace Distillery using the same wheated mash bill behind the acclaimed Weller lineup. Aged a full 12 years in new charred American oak, this expression sits at a "medium" proof deliberately chosen by the Van Winkle family to balance maturity with drinkability, often described by fans as the most well-rounded entry point into the full Van Winkle range.

Best enjoyed neat, as ice or water can dilute its balanced character, this bourbon has been described by the Van Winkle family themselves as capable of standing alongside a fine cognac as an after-dinner sipper. A highly allocated release from Buffalo Trace's annual Van Winkle lineup, this bottle is a strong pickup for wheated bourbon fans working toward completing the full Family Reserve set.
