About This Bottle
Amaro Nonino Quintessentia was created in 1992 by 4th generation distiller Antonio Nonino at Nonino Distillatori, founded in 1897 in Friuli, northeastern Italy. What sets Quintessentia apart from nearly every other amaro is its base: rather than a neutral grain spirit, it uses UE, the Nonino family's proprietary grape distillate, aged in small barriques of Nevers oak, Limousin oak, and ex-sherry casks. This aged distillate is infused with a complex botanical recipe including gentian, saffron, licorice, rhubarb, sweet and bitter orange, tamarind, quassia bark, and galenga.
