Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 15.1 Scotch Whisky
Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 15.1 is the foundational expression of the 15th annual Octomore series, distilled from 100% Scottish grown Concerto barley malted to an intense 108.2 PPM. As the backbone of the series, this release serves as the benchmark from which the other 15.2 and 15.3 editions are compared, matured for 5 years on Islay in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels (72%) and re-charred ex-bourbon casks (28%), a technique designed to extract maximum character from the wood.
Bottled at cask strength 59.1% ABV with no chill filtration or added color, the nose brings caramel and vibrant citrus wrapped in dry, earthy peat smoke, layered with spicy aniseed, vanilla, custard, tropical fruit, geranium, and a hint of ginger. The palate delivers immediate heat balanced by sweet dry malt and earthy smoke, with a refreshing medley of mango, banana, and apricot jam rounded out by vanilla custard and toffee, finishing with peat smoke, charred oak, and a fresh marine crispness.
A raw and uncompromising single malt that balances Octomore's signature intense peat with genuine refinement, this release has earned multiple gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, making it a strong pick for peat enthusiasts and Octomore collectors building out the full annual series.
