About This Bottle
Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey traces back to a high-rye recipe first crafted by Augustus Bulleit in Kentucky between the 1830s and 1860s. In 1987, his great-great-grandson Tom Bulleit left behind a career in law to revive the family recipe, and the modern Bulleit brand was born. Distilled from a mash bill of 68 percent corn, 28 percent rye, and 4 percent malted barley, an unusually high rye content for a bourbon, this whiskey is aged a minimum of 6 years in charred American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
- Nose: Caramel, vanilla, and citrus, with smoky char, oak, and strawberry shortcake
- Palate: Rich and slightly chewy, with peppery spice, toffee, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and orange zest
- Finish: Long, clean, and dry, with lingering spicy warmth and a touch of woody smoke
Bold without being aggressive, Bulleit's high-rye character sets it apart from sweeter, traditional bourbons, making it a favorite among bartenders and whiskey drinkers alike, versatile enough for sipping neat or building into a classic Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Bulleit Bourbon taste like?
Caramel, vanilla, and citrus on the nose, with peppery spice, toffee, and orange zest on the palate, finishing long and dry with spicy warmth.
Why is Bulleit called "Frontier Whiskey"?
It honors the original recipe crafted by Augustus Bulleit in the 1830s-1860s Kentucky frontier, revived by his descendant Tom Bulleit in 1987.
What makes Bulleit's mash bill unusual?
Its 28% rye content is notably high for a bourbon, giving it a spicier, more rye-forward character than sweeter, traditional bourbons.
