About This Bottle
Mr Black was founded in 2013 in Erina, New South Wales, Australia, by distiller Philip Moore, built to bring specialty coffee culture into the world of spirits and reinvent the modern Espresso Martini. Unlike older, sweeter coffee liqueurs, Mr Black is made using an 18-hour cold brew extraction of 100% specialty-grade Arabica beans sourced from Colombia and Ethiopia, blended with Australian wheat vodka and only a small amount of cane sugar, using roughly half the sugar and ten times the coffee content of traditional coffee liqueurs. The brand was acquired by Diageo in 2022 with no change to the original formulation.

Tasting Notes
- Nose: Freshly roasted coffee, cocoa, and caramelized sugar
- Palate: Rich and complex with dark chocolate, coffee bean, marmalade, and dried fig
- Finish: Clean, smooth, and pleasantly bitter with a dry, espresso-like close
Drier and more coffee-forward than traditional syrupy coffee liqueurs, Mr Black has become a fixture on serious cocktail menus, best known as the modern standard for an Espresso Martini, though it also shines in a Black Manhattan, Coffee Negroni, or simply neat over a single rock.
