Octomore 10 Year Old Dialogos Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
Octomore 10 Year Old Dialogos is the third limited edition release in Bruichladdich's Octomore Ten series, distilled in 2008 from 100% Scottish grown Optic barley harvested in 2007 and malted to 167 PPM. Unlike the standard 5 year old Octomore releases, this expression matured a full decade on Islay across an unusually complex patchwork of casks: first-fill Port pipes (37%), first-fill Cognac casks (31%), second-fill ex-American whiskey barrels (20%), and a final parcel that spent 3 years in first-fill ex-American oak, 2 years in virgin oak, and 6 years in ex-American whiskey casks (12%).
Bottled at 56.8% ABV with no chill filtration or added color, the nose brings richness, chocolate, tobacco, bonfire smoke, and leather, layered with vanilla custard, blueberry, dry straw, and pear drops. The palate is warming and spicy, reminiscent of mulled wine, with leather, tobacco, malt sugar, and icing sugar wrapped in earthy peat smoke. The extended decade of aging tames the raw intensity typical of younger Octomore releases, letting the complex cask influences take center stage alongside the signature peat.
